About The Gateway

Introducing the Australian PSTN to Voice over IP Gateway:

"The Gateway" is designed to connect callers from within the PSTN, or traditional telephone network, to the increasing number of people who are using IP based telephone services. This means that for those who have not yet taken up VoIP type services they can call a local number and be connected to users on 100's of other VoIP based networks either directly or via transit providers.


What you need to know before using the gateway:

  1. The service is supplied "as is" with no warranties granted or implied. While we have taken a number of steps to ensure that the service is available 24 / 7 it is supplied on a best effort basis.

  2. There is no guarantee that this service will continue to operate in the longer term. Users of this service should be aware of this when implementing any communications solution which involves the use of this service.

  3. The operators of the gateway are in no way associated with the VoIP providers to whom we route calls. The fact that we send calls to these VoIP providers should not be construed as a recommendation or endorsement of their services above those of other providers.

  4. If you use the service your CLI may be presented to the party receiving the call.

Gateway Dialing Instructions:

Directly Connected VoIP providers:

To connect to a Faktortel customer dial *208 followed by the customers number.

To connect to a Free World Dialup user dial *393 followed by the users number.

To connect to a Freshtel / FireFly customer dial *247 followed by the customers number.

To connect to a Freecall / Siphone customer dial *210 followed by the customers number.

To connect to a Oztell customer dial *698 followed by the customers number.

To connect to a Voxalot customer dial *061 followed by the customers number.

Indirect Connection Via SIP Broker:

To connect to a user via SIP Broker dial the providers "*" code followed by the users number.

A list of codes supported by SIP Broker can be found here.

Internal Gateway Functions:

To contact the operators dial 9*1 or go here.

A local EchoTest can be conducted by dialing 9*2.

Server time is available by dialing 9*3.

Call disconnect will occur if 9*9 is dialed.
