Miva 9.14 is now available.

In an effort to reduce fraud and improve the safety of eCommerce transactions, the European Union has enacted legislation governing the credit card verification protocols used by online merchants. The Revised Payment Service Directive (PSD2), which was passed by the Council of the European Union in November 2015, requires merchants to verify credit cards directly with the issuing bank. This removes the need for intermediary verification and transfers fraud liability away from merchants.

To reduce liability exposure and avoid non-compliance fees, European merchants and US-based merchants who accept EU-issued credit cards should take steps to ensure that they are compliant with PSD2 before the directive goes into effect.

The deadline for compliance with the PSD2 is September 14, 2019.

PSD2 Compliance With 3D Secure

The 3D Secure authentication process is a powerful fraud prevention tool which verifies credit cards with issuing banks, protecting merchants from fraud liability. Miva merchants who conduct business in the EU can enable 3D Secure in Miva to comply with the PSD2.

The Miva 9.14 release adds support for the 3D Secure authentication protocol for merchants using Braintree.
