Salsify was recently named an “Exemplary” vendor in a new Ventana Research market report, “2021 Value Index on Product Information Management (PIM).” This category is the highest ranking within the market report.

Ventana Research is a leading benchmark business technology research and advisory services firm. Its vendor and product assessment reviewed 16 vendors using its “PIM blueprint,” which evaluates “software in seven key categories that are weighted based on [Ventana Research’s] expertise and research to reflect organizational and buyers’ needs.”

This announcement also follows our recent naming as a “Leader” in the “The Forrester Wave™: Product Information Management, Q2 2021” report, where we received the highest possible scores in nine of the 15 PIM Forrester Wave report criteria.

Salsify PIM: Designed for the ‘Multichannel and Increasingly Personalized Age of the Digital Shelf’

“To provide an effective product experience for buyers, consumers, customers, and partners, as well as throughout the supply chain, organizations must deliver accurate, consistent, and actionable product information,” says Mark Smith, CEO and chief research officer at Ventana Research.

“In our Value Index market research assessing Salsify and 15 other vendors, we found that its purpose-built PIM offering is designed for supporting brand manufacturers in the multichannel and increasingly personalized age of the digital shelf, was best in class for its overall product offering, and thus was classified as ‘Exemplary’ overall and in its combined product and customer experience.”

Salsify Named a ‘Value Index Leader’

“Using the right technology is foundational to create success and creates opportunities for breakthrough growth that far exceeds mere productivity improvements,” states the Ventana Research market report. This philosophy aligns with the focus of the Ventana Research market report.

The market report includes seven total evaluation categories, five of which examine product experience and two of which examine customer experience:

  1. Adaptability of the Product
  2. Capability of the Product
  3. Manageability of the Product
  4. Readability of the Product
  5. TCO/ROI of the Vendor
  6. Usability of the Product
  7. Validation of the Vendor

Ventana Research identifies companies that place in the top three in any category as “Value Index Leaders.” Salsify was named a Value Index Leader in the “TCO/ROI of the Vendor” and “Usability of the Product” categories.

The total cost of ownership (TCO)/return on investment (ROI) category evaluates “how effective the vendor is in demonstrating the business case, including the product’s strategic value, total cost of ownership, and total benefit of ownership.”

The usability category evaluates the “intelligence in the usability across user experience, the use of AI [artificial intelligence] and machine learning,” as well as its adaptability to “the diverse competencies of an organization’s workers.”

Approaching the PIM Market With a Radically Different Purpose

“An organization’s agility and ability to invest adequate time and resources into products determines its sustainability, operational effectiveness, and overall business health,” Ventana Research states in its new market report.

At Salsify, we have taken a unique approach to PIM: Our enterprise-grade PIM was purpose-built from the ground up for multichannel commerce.

We’ve also invested over $50 million into research and development (R&D) to create a PIM that helps brand manufacturers manage product information in the “multichannel and increasingly personalized age of the digital shelf.”

“We’re honored to be recognized once again by the analyst community as a leader in PIM,” says Rob Gonzalez, co-founder and CMO at Salsify.

Salsify’s focus is on the experience of product information and how a PIM could help unify teams across an organization. “This results in superior product experiences for customers, which ultimately drive growth,” Gonzalez says.
