Salsify was just named a “Leader” in a new International Data Corporation (IDC) vendor assessment, “IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Product Information Management Applications for Commerce 2021 Vendor Assessment.”

IDC is a leading provider of information and communications technology (ICT) market intelligence, advisory services, and events. The report evaluated 16 product information management (PIM) vendors, assigning each vendor to a category (“Participants,” “Contenders,” “Major Players,” or “Leaders”) based on its weighting between two axes: “Capabilities” and “Strategies.”

Salsify PIM: ‘Purpose-Built for Brand Manufacturing’

The IDC MarketScape report highlights the now-essential requirements of a modern PIM system, highlighting the need for capabilities that support “better product data, content, and experiences for digital commerce.”

“Consider Salsify if you are looking for a PIM purpose-built for brand manufacturing to power your multichannel commerce experiences,” IDC notes.

This announcement marks the second consecutive IDC MarketScape on PIM where Salsify has been named a “Leader,” one of only a small number of vendors who could claim this honor.

This IDC MarketScape assessment also follows two other recent PIM analyst reports where Salsify ranked in the highest assessment categories, demonstrating unrivaled momentum and broad recognition as a market leader in PIM:

Strength in Syndication and Implementation Experience

“Salsify was developed with syndication across channels as a top priority, and its syndication capabilities differentiate it from other PIM vendors,” IDC notes.

A Salsify customer interviewed for the report notes the following: “If we got rid of Salsify, we would have to hire 10 people to do the work Salsify has automated for us.”

Another critical strength highlighted in the report was Salsify’s implementation experience: “Customers and partner organizations we interviewed rated Salsify best-in-class for its ease of implementation. One implementation partner commented, ‘Of all the PIMs I have worked with, Salsify is definitely the quickest we can implement.'”

Not only is Salsify a “Leader” in “Capabilities,” but we also enable organizations to scale their digital commerce operations over time and achieve fast time to value.

New Retailer Content Management Capabilities

The IDC report also highlighted Salsify’s recent acquisition of Alkemics, a supplier experience management (SupplierXM) platform.

“Salsify’s acquisition of Alkemics introduces a robust set of retailer content management capabilities into the Salsify ecosystem and is intended to help facilitate information sharing between brands and retailers. With the addition, Salsify wants to become an integrated system of record and workflow to help brands and retailers deliver continuously adaptive product experiences,” IDC notes.

Powering Multichannel and Continuously Adaptive Product Experiences

Salsify was also recognized for its strategy, which we believe validates our market vision for and strategic focus on bringing an end-to-end platform to power multichannel and continuously adaptive product experiences.

The Salsify approach to PIM is unique, as our enterprise-grade PIM was purpose-built from the ground up for managing multichannel commerce experiences. We’ve invested over $50 million into research and development (R&D) to create a PIM that helps brand manufacturers manage product information in the multichannel and increasingly personalized age of the digital shelf.
