As previously announced in September 2018, Adobe will end support for the 12-year-old Magento 1.x release line for both Magento Commerce and Magento Open Source on June 30, 2020. Since announcing the end-of-support (EOS) date, we’ve been working closely with customers, partners, and developers on transition plans through the Magento 1 EOS timeline.
Ahead of the Magento 2 release in November 2015, we committed ourselves to 36 months of Magento 1 support. Based on feedback from our ecosystem, and with the support of our technology vendors, solution partners, and independent developers, we extended this support window to 55 months.
Thousands of merchants have already migrated to Magento 2. It is the best solution for growing businesses to succeed and thrive in digital commerce. Magento 2 offers a wealth of built-in features that are not available in Magento 1, plus infrastructure that is easier to maintain and support. For those merchants who are still in the process of migrating, we encourage you to work with your solution partner, technology vendors, and our resource library to help in this process. If you need fast solutions to launch a Magento Commerce 2 store in as little as two weeks, please contact your Magento Customer Success Manager.
If you have a store that continues to run on Magento 1 after June 30, please be aware that from that date forward you have increased responsibility for maintaining your site’s security and PCI DSS compliance. Beyond the EOS date, Adobe will not be responding to any further security issues for Magento 1. Be sure to install Adobe’s final Magento 1 security patch (here). No further patches will be issued by Adobe.
We encourage Magento 1 merchants to download the Magento 1 extensions they plan to keep, since Magento 1 extensions will not be available in the Magento Marketplace after July 7, 2020, and will be removed from the Magento repository after August 6, 2020.
In order to avoid any confusion about Adobe support of the Magento 1 product line going forward, we are taking our copy of the Magento 1 documentation offline. Note that community-hosted clones of this repository and community-hosted Magento 1 documentation sites must comply with Magento’s trademark.
